Psalm 119: The Serpent Psalm

Psalm 119 serves as a remarkable example of an acrostic psalm, masterfully organized with each stanza beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. As the longest psalm in the Book of Psalms, it can be seen as 22 distinct psalms seamlessly woven into one narrative.

Psalm 119 is central to the Kabbalistic tree. Each path corresponds to a specific Hebrew letter, allowing practitioners to study the stanza connected to the letter of the path they are focused on. This journey ascends the tree, progressing from its base to its crown, traversing through the Hebrew letters in reverse order, from tav to aleph.

This methodical journey through Psalm 119, starting with its final stanza and concluding with its first, reflects a move toward enhanced spiritual understanding. In my course on the Hermetic Kabbalah, we examine these paths using a variety of techniques.
