Understanding the Names of God: Qualities of the Divine

In this lecture, Ariel Gatoga explores the concept of the names of God, delving into how they can be utilized as powerful tools for magicians. He explains that these names represent different qualities of one infinite source, rather than separate deities. By aligning with these qualities—such as life, spirit, soul, intelligence, truth, love, law, and presence—individuals can tap into the divine to resolve issues and improve their lives. The idea is to pivot away from problems by focusing on these divine qualities, thus overcoming the ego's influence and finding harmony and resolution.

There are different names of God. Sometimes these different names of God are depicted as entire pantheons of deities, or there's a separate deity that personifies each name, or sometimes they are seen as different ways of calling upon the same deity. From a magical experiential perspective, thinking about the names of God as being something like a magical formula where you vibrate a name and because of the physical vibrations of that name, you're releasing forces, or you're making things happen, or the idea that you are invoking a very specific separate deity into your circle.

Can be helpful tools to engage the deep mind as long as you understand what you're doing and why you're doing it. It's important for us as magicians who wanna be successful to understand that a name of God is simply an explanation of one of the qualities of the infinite. Sometimes in order to tune in on that particular quality.

We engage our imagination in a way that supports that, and everybody's gonna be a little different as far as how they engage their imagination and how they get their deep mind to accept something. A lot of times it can be quite advantageous to call upon a deity, to call upon a goddess, to call upon a spirit, to call upon an angel.

Because we understand that this personification of this particular force is helping us to tune into that quality, but we understand that that quality is part of a singularity, part of a oneness. If you start thinking in terms of multiple powers that have no unity, you have no power. How do you know that the power that you're calling upon isn't gonna be less powerful than another power that might be opposing it?

And isn't that whole idea of multiple powers where we get things like God versus Satan and all of that kind of stuff, how useful is that to have this idea that there are multiple powers that may be at odds with one another. Instead, we understand that we come from one source. And that we are all a part of that one source.

And just like a prism can refract light, there are many different expressions of that one source, possibly infinite expressions of that one source at any given time. Not allowing ourselves to be consumed by the ego illusion of separateness and understand that unique expressions of this one unified source.

Do not denote separate powers, separate deities. Dion Fortune stated, all Gods are one. That was her phrase. All Gods are one. Within that idea of different expressions of the one power in our angelic system, we have eight different teaching angels that we work with. We can look at those eight different teaching angels as being custodians of.

A specific name or a specific quality of spirit or the divine. The qualities we tend to use are broad qualities that cover pretty much everything. This is just this one system. This is one way of looking at it. We have Meek Iel ruling, the name of God called Life, Sam Mayel Rules, the name of God called Spirit.

Gabrielle Rules the name of God called Soul Raphael Rules the name of God called Intelligence Sael Rules the name of God called Truth on Ael Rules. The name of God called Love Cassiel Rules. The name of God called Law and Al Rules the name of God called presence. If you're having some kind of a relationship issue, possibly the quality you're looking to align with is the quality called love.

You're having trouble coming up with the answer to something. Perhaps you need to call upon the quality called truth or the quality of intelligence if you're feeling vulnerable. If you're feeling unsafe, you might wanna call upon the quality called spirit. Sometimes it can be more advantageous for us to not think in the abstract, like those words, love, truth, and think in terms of a personification of those things, such as the angel's names, such as deity names.

As long as we are understanding that we don't wanna get superstitious about the powers. Because what happens is when we start thinking in terms of deities, we think of them as personalities, and as soon as we start thinking of them as personalities, we start thinking of them as egos. As soon as we start thinking of them as egos, we stop experiencing them as qualities of the divine and instead start thinking of them in terms of greater egos than what we have.

Understand that the idea of an ego is an idea of separateness. And the idea of an ego that is separate, fosters an idea of conflict, and so we don't ever wanna think of the idea of the infinite as having conflict within itself. That's the whole idea of the war in heaven. The war in heaven is not real.

There can never be a war in heaven. There's only oneness. There's only unity. There's only perfection. The idea of a war is the idea of the creation of an ego, the creation of a demi urge, a nightmare that doesn't exist. Whenever we're thinking in terms of that which is not in harmony, we are thinking of that which doesn't exist because the will of the infinite is that there be harmony.

These names of God, these divine names, these qualities of the divine are principles that are infinite and have no opposite. There is no opposite to the principle of love. There is no opposite to the principle of truth. Now, you might think, of course there is the opposite of love is hate. The opposite of truth is lie.

The opposite of soul is ego. That's where we get in trouble is we believe that there are multiple powers that are at war with one another. The idea that there's good versus evil is a construct of the ego. The only way that we can experience opposites of infinite powers in the world we live is by creating shadows, creating shadows or shades of a power.

There is no power of darkness. There's only the power of light. Therefore, darkness is a shadowing of the light. It's an attempt to make an absence of light. The only way you can make an absence of light is by creating some sort of structure to block the light, or for the earth itself to turn away from the light and to shadow the light.

Which in three-dimensional reality is important. We have to have dark and light, we have to have seasons. All of that is perfectly balanced for us, but we understand that just because we're experiencing night doesn't mean that the sun stopped shining. It means that we took a break from the sunshine. If we are experiencing hate, it's not because love stopped happening, it's because we took a break from love.

Anytime you're experiencing an apparent opposition to a divine quality, you're not experiencing a new principle. You're experiencing a shadow or a shade of that principle, a blocking of that principle, a disregard of that principle, a turning away from that principle. For instance, in the principle of love, no matter what somebody's doing to you, you could experience love for them no matter what, if you wanted to.

There's no law that says that you have to react to what they're doing. There's no rule out there that says you must react to what they're doing by withholding love from them. Of course you can protect your body. You can protect your sanity, but there's no absolute law that says you have to close your heart to them and stop loving them, even if they're being bad.

You don't have to experience hatred toward that person. That principle of love is always available to you. We're not saying that you must experience the principle of love and that you may not have an experience of hatred for that person. We're just putting it out there for your consideration that love is constant and it's up to you whether you turn to it or not, whether you channel it or not.

And that's true for any of the principles. The principle of life doesn't stop happening when someone dies. It appears like that because their body no longer is functioning, but the universe is still going. When my mother died, we felt her presence much more acutely in the room, the moment of her passing than we did when she was still in her body.

All of us experienced that. We had a very acute understanding that the principle of life did not stop because her body stopped functioning. The principle of truth. If somebody's lying, that doesn't mean the truth stopped. Somebody's lying or withholding the truth from you. That doesn't mean there is no truth.

It means they've turned away from the truth. They've taken a break from the truth, but the truth is still there. No matter how many times somebody tells you two plus two equals 12, it doesn't make it true. The truth of what two plus two equals is always going to be there. That principle can never be thwarted, but it can be avoided.

It can be turned away from, but that doesn't make the lie true. So there is no principle that is opposing truth. It's just that we are removing ourselves from the principle or shadowing ourselves from the principle. It's important to understand this if we're going to use these principles to make our lives better.

We're going to use these angels, work with these angels, work with these forces, these planetary energies. For instance, let's say that you have a problem with the truth. Maybe you've been not particularly honest with somebody about something. That doesn't mean that the truth is not available to you. You can align yourself with the truth.

How do you do that? The easiest way is just by saying, so I align myself with divine truth. Divine truth is the one and only reality in my experience here. I call upon divine truth, let divine truth manifest itself. Sometimes what happens these days in regards to the divine quality called truth, I've noticed, is people misuse the the word truth.

Yes, facts are important, but facts aren't always the whole truth. If somebody says, I'm just gonna be really honest. I really have to tell the truth, and then they beat you up with it. They're beating you up with facts, but they're not telling you the complete truth because the complete truth will set you free.

The complete truth will make you feel good. The complete truth, the whole truth, the divine truth will make everything better. That's what truth does, that's what any divine quality does. It makes things better. If somebody's calling something the truth and they're beating you over the head with a fact to make you feel bad, they're not telling you the complete truth because the complete truth doesn't do that.

The complete truth includes the right facts, but it goes much more than the right facts. So if you're having trouble telling the truth to somebody, just saying, now I'm going to give them the facts, I'm gonna lay it out there for them. Sometimes that's not the kindest thing to do. If you've been lying to somebody about something or you've been withholding the truth about something to somebody.

Sometimes just coming out and saying the facts isn't giving them the whole truth. Sometimes it's better to instead, align yourself with the divine principle first, and then let the facts come out. Let divine truth reveal itself in this situation. Let only the divine truth be revealed now and then when you do share the facts with this person, it's coming through in a way that's not harming them, that's not causing them more pain.

Same thing with any other principle. If the divine principle that you're aligning with seems to be causing more problems than good, one of two things is happening. Either you're not really aligning with the divine principle or you're having a detox. Even when you're having a detox, there might be an immediate sting, but if it seems to be making things a lot worse, it's possible that you're not aligning with the divine principle.

You're allowing the ego to use that idea of the divine principle to thwart you in one way or another. You can tap into any of these names of God anytime you have a problem. Just like with the Psalms, it's best if you can find the name that goes along with what you're working, but if you get the wrong quality of God, if you get the wrong name of God, it's okay.

It's okay. It'll get you there. Just like, it's okay if you get the quote wrong, Psalm, it'll still get you there. It may be circuitous, but you'll get there. So no matter what you're going through, if you need healing, if you need help, those names of God are there for you, and all you have to do is call upon them.

Let the such and such reveal itself in this situation. Whatever the name of God is, let infinite soul reveal itself in this situation. Let infinite spirit. Reveal itself in this situation. If you're ever in a place where you feel vulnerable, you feel unsafe, calling upon infinite spirit is really smart.

'cause Spirit is that which cannot be destroyed. And you can just say, I call upon infinite spirit. Infinite spirit is here. I am safe and protected because infinite spirit is here. Infinite spirit is revealing itself in this situation. Call upon that and lean on that if you know somebody's lying to you.

Infinite truth reveals itself in this situation right now. If things just aren't working out in the right way. Infinite law, divine law is now manifest in this situation. I call upon divine law to reveal itself here. If you feel alone, if you don't know where to turn, if you don't know what to call a divine presence.

Infinite presence, divine presence is with me. Now, in this situation, I call upon omnipresence. If you call upon it and you allow it to be there and you allow yourself to experience it, what's gonna go up against infinite presence, but the presence of the divine? Nothing. How can anything that's not divine withstand the presence of that?

Just think about how can darkness withstand the light when you flip on the light switch in a room. If you don't feel smart enough in a situation, if you don't think you can come up with the answer in a situation, call upon infinite intelligence, the same power that creates embryos, and then babies out of the embryos, makes planets revolve around.

A sun governs the mysteries of photosynthesis. That same power, if you call upon infinite intelligence, it can handle your problem that you can't figure out too. There's nothing that any of these names of the infinite cannot solve if we allow ourselves to fully align with them and to invoke them and to allow them to reveal themselves to us, and to have right of way.

If there's something that's happening and you know that divine love needs to be invoked, invoked, divine love, and then let divine love have right of way. You don't need to direct divine love. You want divine love to direct you. Doesn't that make sense? I want the flow of divine love to be established so that I can ride on that flow.

I don't want to direct it. If I knew how to direct divine love, I wouldn't need to call upon it. If I knew what to do in this situation, I wouldn't have the problem to begin with. So when I call upon one of these qualities, I want the flow to be established so that I can ride on that flow. Every single planet, every single angel governs one of these divine names, one of these divine qualities.

If you're not in a particular mindset that wants to keep track of planets and angels, that's okay. But know there are eight divine qualities or eight divine names of the infinite. And if you do memorize those, it's going to be easy for you to understand what needs to be invoked at what time. Now, if you can't think of them, then just call upon infinite.

Just call upon the infinite and let the infinite do it for you. The way I memorized them is I just think in terms of the days of the week. Sunday Life Monday. Soul Tuesday. Spirit Wednesday. Intelligence Thursday. Truth Friday. Love. Saturday law and presence. Now, I'm not saying that you can only call upon those qualities on those days of the week.

It's just a way that I keep it in order in my mind. I understand that each angel or each planet governs each quality or name of God, and then if I think about what their days of the week are, that's how I keep them straight in my mind. Whatever works for you, but if you can memorize them. What happens is if you're stuck in a problem and you don't know what to do, you can say, I'm going to pivot.

We've talked about the magic pivot before. I'm gonna pivot off of this. I'm going to acknowledge the problem, look at it straight in the face, and I'm going to say, now I'm pivoting and I'm gonna saturate my mind with the qualities of the infinite instead of this problem. And then what you do is just go by rote, especially if you're really scared or worried about something.

Get really clear in your head about what you believe the problem is, and then you say, now I'm gonna pivot. Make it very clear. I usually say it out loud. Here's my problem, whatever it is, I have this problem with this bill. I have the problem with this diagnosis. I have a problem with this relationship.

Whatever it is, we name it. And then we say, now I'm gonna pivot onto the names of the infinite. And then I just go by rote. I don't even try to figure it out in my mind. I just say divine life, infinite soul, infinite spirit, infinite intelligence, divine truth, divine love, divine law, divine presence. And I just go through them by rote, over and over in my mind, saturating my mind with the names of God, with the names of the infinite instead of thinking about the problem.

I detach myself completely from the problem once I pivoted and take a good five minutes and go over and over the names of God. And then when I'm done with that, when I feel like I've got a little bit of a click, I completely drop the matter from my mind, and then I do it again, maybe midday, and then I do it again maybe in the evening.

When I'm not doing that, I drop the matter from my mind unless there's something that comes up in the world where I have to take care of some business. For instance, if it's a financial problem, like this bill not getting paid, I stop thinking about the bill in between each of these sessions unless something about the bill comes up that needs my attention, in which case I take care of whatever it is, and then I drop it from my mind completely.

What tends to happen. In all of the years I've worked this way is there's a resolution that comes and it usually comes when I'm not thinking of it, and the resolution is usually something either very normal and natural or sometimes very unusual and miraculous. And I don't care which one it is, I really don't care.

It can be really ooey ey, witchy, woo, or it can be very mundane as long as the problem is solved, what do I care how it happens? That tool, that magical pivot. Let's reiterate how to work it. If you've got a problem and you don't know what to do about it, you address it, you face it, you define it, and you name it.

And then you very clearly say, and now I'm pivoting. You pivot away from it, and you start either thinking of whatever the divine name is that you believe governs that thing, or if you don't know, you just go through all of the names. You just go through 'em all over and over again by rote, and you do this where you're not thinking about your problem, you're only thinking about the name of God for about five minutes, and you'll get a little sense of relief.

Once you're finished with that little exercise, drop the matter completely from your mind and repeat that process once, twice. More, maybe once in the middle of the day or once at night, or at least once before you go to bed. What I've noticed happen very consistently is things get resolved quickly when we work that way, but it's by working through those names of God.

Now if you really feel more comfortable using the Hebraic names of God, or you really feel more comfortable chanting the names of, let's say, a Hindu deity or something like that instead, that's fine. You can do whatever works for you. I just like to go real practical and pragmatic just so that I'm not getting superstitious about mantras and things like that.

It's just me. I stick with basic English versions of the names of the divine. Life, soul, spirit, intelligence, truth, love, law, and presence. Think about that and try that this week, especially if there's something that comes up and you feel like they're in trouble with something or you can't get rid of a problem.

Use the technique of pivoting to the name of the infinite to the divine name, and don't let your mind keep shadowing. 'cause that's what that is. If there's a problem in our life, there's some way in which our mind has started either all by itself or joined with other minds to shadow a divine principle, to shadow a divine name.

And if instead, what we do is we pivot away from that very consciously, acutely, actively, purposefully pivot away from that and then saturate our mind with a divine quality instead. Then we're no longer shadowing a principle, and then the problem is going to have to disappear one way or another. It's gonna have to resolve one way or another, but it's not gonna resolve by us figuring out all the details.

It's gonna resolve by us taking our mind off the problem and putting our mind on the principle instead so that we're no longer shadowing the principle. And when we do that and we get the resolution of our problem. It's proof that this works. The only way you're gonna prove it to yourself is by doing it.

So give it an honest try and see if you can't feel a lot more mastery in your life over some of these situations that seem unsolvable. Because I want to reiterate to you that the ego trades in unsolvable problems. That's its shtick. So if there's an unsolvable problem in your life, there is ego in your life, and from the point of view of the infinite, there is no such thing as an unsolvable problem.

So don't make up your mind that something's unsolvable. Instead, work the magic pivot. Where you purposefully pivot away from the problem by naming the problem, by looking at the problem, by being clear about the problem, and then saying, and now I'm pivoting away from the problem and into the name of God, and then either recite the one name of God over and over again or go through all eight of them over and over again, and it's okay if it's only by rote and you don't feel really powerful about it.

It doesn't matter. Because what you're doing is very powerful. You're taking a stand with your problem that I'm no longer allowing for a shadowing of a principle. Here I am calling on the principle itself to. Solve this problem and then I'm getting myself out of the way completely and letting it happen.

Thank you so much for spending some time with me today. I so appreciate you. Until next time, let it be.
