In his livestream lecture, Ariel Gatoga examines how religious teachings influence beliefs about inherent sinfulness. He questions the idea that humans are naturally evil and destined for punishment, instead promoting the view that everyone possesses intrinsic value and deserves abundance. Gatoga draws on concepts from magic and witchcraft to stress the importance of breaking free from restrictive ways of thinking. He suggests that thoughts are naturally creative and points to nature's inherent plenty as an example of human possibility. Gatoga encourages listeners to embrace peace and abundance, rather than scarcity and limitation.

There's this religious idea that we are small beings that are inherently sinful and need the grace and forgiveness of a higher power in order just to not be tormented for eternity. And when you're coming from that point of view—I'm already bad and sinful, and my lot in eternity is to receive eternal torment unless I toe the line, unless I do what I'm told to do—I don't think most of us understood the power of being able to question those things. Because when you're indoctrinated into a belief system at a very young age, you don't even know that questioning it is an option.

On one hand, we're supposed to believe that there's this loving, benign creator. And then on the other hand, this creator is playing really bizarre games with us. We're just a plaything and we're being toyed with. And by the way, it doesn't matter if you were raised in this belief system or not. It really doesn't matter because the overall zeitgeist, the overall understanding is still there in the group mind.

This is where a lot of the old craft gets some of its initiation ceremonies from. Like if you read that book by Paul Husson, "Mastering Witchcraft," one of the first things that he suggests you do is to separate yourself from that thought system completely. And his method for doing that is to recite the Lord's Prayer backwards once a day for three days. And while you're doing that, imagine yourself being freed from the shackles of this thought system. That's a very gnostic way of doing things. It's a way. It's a thing that you can do. If that's something that you feel is powerful, you can do that.

Just on another note, the idea of saying the Lord's Prayer backwards is not just an act of defiance, though. There's another whole school of thought where you say the Lord's Prayer not backwards in that you say the words backwards, like gibberish, but you go from the last verse to the first verse. That perspective is that you mine the Lord's Prayer for inner wisdom, literally being able to say, "Oh, I know the Lord's Prayer backwards and forwards." So there's more than one way to say the Lord's Prayer backwards, and there's more than one reason to do it, if that's interesting to you.

But my point is, with that, it's not the specific ritual. It's that a lot of craft wisdom, magical wisdom, will recommend that you find a way to release yourself from the tyranny of the thought system that you're inherently sinful and that God's out to get you. To free yourself from that tyranny, even if you don't believe that you're subject to that tyranny. My point of view is you can do that in a much more gentle way than giving the middle finger to the religion of your childhood. You don't really need to do it that way unless that feels good to you. You can do it just by using your own common sense.

Why would a loving creator extend itself as us and then punish us and then view us as being sinful, view us as being bad or a big mistake? From my point of view and from my experience, just in my own work spiritually, none of that's true. What is true and what I've experienced to be true for myself is that when I'm able to meditate and get underneath my racing thoughts, what is constant underneath those racing thoughts is peace. And where that peace exists is where that so-called higher power or God exists. And that God is a God of peace because that's the only thing that exists underneath all of the chaos of the surface mind or the ego mind.

Understanding that when I relax, when we relax into that experience of peace, that we do meet God face to face. And when you meet God face to face and God gives you God's opinion of you, God's opinion of you is that you're fabulous. There's nothing wrong with you. There's no reason to punish you because there's nothing sinful about you. In fact, the idea of punishment is of the ego. It's not of God. Punishment in and of itself is of the ego.

So this whole idea of sin and punishment and all of that, when it's tied up with prayer, is that your prayer is not effective, because what you're always doing is bringing a supplication to a higher being from the point of view of, "I'm not good enough, but maybe you'll be nice to me anyway." So out of the gate, the creative power of your mind is working against you. Remember that thought is creative.

Let's look at Magic 101A. Thought is creative. Without thought, you can't create. Just think about you as a human being. You want to write a book? You have to think about the book. You can't just expect the book to come out of nowhere without you thinking of it. You want to design a building? You have to think about the building, right? You want to create a business? You have to think about the business. Thought is the genesis of all. Everything starts from thought.

So if your primary thought when you're coming to prayer or spell casting is, "I'm a miserable sinner and I don't deserve what I'm asking for, but I hope I get it anyway," you're not going to get it. You're not going to get anything at all except for more of what you don't want, because you're coming from a creative thought that you're undeserving, that you're sinful, that you deserve to be punished, that there's something wrong with you, right? So when we think of prayer, we have to overturn that in our mind before we even start doing it. We have to turn it on our heads, everything that we've ever been taught about prayer and even sometimes about magic.

I've heard so many teachers of magic that are very good at what they do, but there's always this sort of tacit implication that you shouldn't ask for too much, only ask for enough to get by because you don't want to be greedy, you don't want to be selfish. My understanding, my experience is that the infinite's desire for us is the same as the infinite's desire for anything else in nature. And if you look how the infinite treats a meadow, there's an overflow of flowers, there's an overflow of seeds, there's an overflow of everything. Even if you're looking in the desert, it's an overflow of sand. It's an overflow. Everything in nature is so abundant. There's more than enough ocean. There's more than enough air. There's more than enough rocks. There's more than enough trees. There's more than enough everything.

And when something is born in nature, it's born in abundance. There's litters of puppies. There's litters of kitties. There's all abundance. But for some reason, we're supposed to think that when we're casting a spell or when we're praying for something, we don't want too much because somehow God's opinion of us is different than God's opinion of everything else in the entire universe. Yes, there can be infinite galaxies, but we only get just enough. We can't ask for too much because that's gonna piss God off.

It's good for us to look at that and to ask ourselves, what is our relationship to the infinite? What is our relationship to nature? What is our relationship to the all, the one? And if you can get underneath the ego thoughts, if you can get underneath all of that and just find that peace that exists, that's where nature lives, is in that peace. And you'll recognize that it's infinite. There's no limits. There's no limits to what you're allowed to have.

Now, we live in a world of limitation. We do. We live—just even three dimensions in and of itself is, by definition, limits. You can't have three dimensions without limits. And that's what the whole demiurge is. The demiurge, a demiurge is an architect. That's the definition of it. So the Demiurge is the grand architect of three-dimensional reality. And people like to anthropomorphize everything. So there's this idea that the Demiurge is some sort of sentient being that's out there doing this. But it's not that. The Demiurge is nothing more than our collective projections.

Remember we talked about that our mind is creative? The Demiurge is no more than our collective projections onto the three-dimensional screen of space of limitation. So when our species, if you will, decided that we wanted to look at the world in a three-dimensional perspective, that we, for whatever reason, you know, from a mythological perspective, we descended into this world in order to wake up, in order to remember ourselves, that's fine. So if you can see, then we would see the three-dimensional world as sort of a school where we learn things. Some people believe that it's a place of torment, that we're being punished and that's why we're here, etc. But for whatever reason, the three-dimensional world exists as a world of limitation. But the infinite doesn't exist as limitation. And within the world of limitation, the infinite is willing for us to have abundance.

If we don't believe that, if we can't conceive of that, if we can't understand that and find that truth within ourselves, then all we can look forward to is more limitation. And so no matter how much you pray to an external deity for mercy, you're going to get the same thing over and over again, because why? Thought is creative. You're coming from the assumption that you're not good enough, that you deserve limitation, that you're not supposed to have an abundance of anything—an abundance of love, an abundance of health, an abundance of money, an abundance of resources. Everything in nature can have an abundance, but you can't. Why?

Well, that's where a lot of these religious stories came from, trying to come up with reasons why everything can be good in nature but not good for humans. And never taking responsibility for the fact that the reason why that is is because human beings think it that way, not understanding that everything starts with a thought. And so if we come from the premise that we are limited and that we can't have anything but limitation, praying for something isn't going to do anything except reinforce that limitation. Thought is creative.

We have to instead be freed from the thought that we are limited beings, freed from the thought that we are here to be punished or that God doesn't like us or whatever, whatever our version of that story is. Until we allow ourselves to be liberated from that idea of limitation, no matter what spell we perform, no matter what kind of prayer we have, we're going to get another version of limitation for ourselves. We are going to reinforce this idea that we're unworthy and that we are on a toboggan ride to hell where we will have eternal torment because that's how we think. That's the belief system. And you can see it being played out in the world. It's not that this is predestined. This is how we think. These are the thoughts we think, and we project onto this three-dimensional reality. The three-dimensional reality is reflecting thought forms.

The three-dimensional reality does not have to be painful. Yes, it's limited. It is limited, but you can see how Infinite Intelligence working through the three-dimensional world creates abundance in nature. If we really were looking to nature as our teacher, we wouldn't have limitation, would we? We would think like nature thinks. We would think in abundance. We wouldn't say, "Well, only ask for enough money to cover your bills, but nothing more, because that's greedy." Do you think nature thinks it's greedy to have more flowers? Not at all. It's just abundant. It's just the way it is. There's not just enough flowers for people to enjoy a bouquet. There are unlimited flowers when it's the right season for flowers.

As a sentient being who has the ability to have intellectual agency—in other words, you can think any way you want to think if you decide to—you don't have to go along with the group mind. But in order to not go along with the group mind and think for yourself, you do have to wake up to the fact that you are habituated to this type of thinking. And when you catch yourself thinking that way, notice it. The next time you do a prayer for something or a spell for something, notice your attitude. "Well, I know I don't really deserve this, but..." You may not say that out loud. You may not even think you believe that, but really examine why it is that you're coming to this prayer or why it is that you're coming to this spell, because there's some sort of limitation, right?

And instead of doing the spell or the prayer to relieve you of the thought form of the limitation so that the abundance can shine through, we usually substitute one limitation for a different form of limitation. Limitation is not the will of the infinite. It can't be. Think about just a piece of fruit. All the little seeds inside that apple. Most of those aren't going to become apple trees, but that doesn't mean they stop being there. The potential for them is there. We could, if we wanted to, allow each and every one of those seeds to germinate and have overabundance of apple trees, but we don't need that. But the potential's there.

Just open up a tomato. Look at all those little tomato seeds. If you look at the tomato seed by itself, it's not that interesting. It doesn't look that miraculous. It's just this little fleck. But within that little fleck is the power to create vines worth of tomatoes to feed families in one little tomato seed. And yet in that tomato, there's tomato seed after tomato seed after tomato seed after tomato seed. So much abundance, constantly in our face. The infinite is always right in our face, showing us abundance, abundance, abundance, no limits, no limits, no limits, even within the world of limitation. Isn't that fascinating?

But we don't see it that way because we're trained not to. We're trained from the very beginnings of our life that we are limited beings, we live in a limited world, there are limited resources, and we need to just shut up. We just need to shut up and not complain and not want more. Rather than rebelling against that by finding abundance, we rebel against that by becoming greedy, which is yet another form of the limitation that thought form is playing out. Because we never are taught to look at the thought form of scarcity itself. We're never taught to look at the thought form of scarcity as being something that needs to be overcome.

We can even contemplate the idea that nature is abundant and looking into nature and seeing all the evidence of abundance that there is for us in nature. And then thinking how limited we are. We never consider the inherent arrogance of that premise. Nature is abundant and I'm limited. In other words, I'm so different from nature. That's arrogant. Humility would be, nature is abundant, I'm part of nature, I'm abundant. I can have what I want. That's humility. Arrogance is, oh, nature is abundant, but I'm different, I'm special. We don't see it that way because we're taught not to see it that way.

When we do magic without addressing the underlying thought form of scarcity, we literally are rearranging the scarcity. That's all we're doing. We're rearranging our scarcity to make it seem less daunting, to make it seem more palatable to us. How stupid is that thought form? I'm not saying that you're stupid. I'm saying how stupid is that idea? "I just want enough to get by, otherwise I'm being selfish." Or the opposite of that, "I want everything, and therefore I have to get theirs. I have to be so greedy that I have to get their stuff." Neither one is abundance. They're flip sides of the same coin of scarcity.

When we find that peace underneath all of that surface mind, and we feel that peace underneath all the surface thoughts and all that ego thinking, we recognize how infinite that peace is, and that within that infinite peace, anything that we desire or require is available to us. But nothing is going to go against our thinking. There's no way that you can, quote, break that covenant—the covenant of cause and effect. Our thoughts are creative. And for as long as we are willing to allow the thought of scarcity to dominate our worldview, there is no way out of it. But when we allow ourselves to get underneath all of that and to feel the peace that exists underneath all of that noise, we recognize none of that scarcity is real. When we embrace that peace and we embrace that abundance, that abundance can appear no matter what.

I was listening to some YouTube short. Some preacher was talking about how anybody that has it good in this life is only setting themselves up for eternal torment. The more you suffer in this life, the better it's going to be in the next life. And I thought to myself, I get it now. I get where we are coming from as a species because we believe that. We really believe that's true on some level, even if we don't say it in those terms. But if that were true, nature would be teaching us a different lesson.

That's why it's so important to sit in nature. That's the beauty of things like national parks that haven't been developed so that you can actually sit and notice how nature is. Nature doesn't worry about the next life. Nature doesn't worry about whether it deserves it or not. Nature just pours forth abundance, abundance, abundance. Your body pours forth abundance, abundance, abundance. Did you ever stop to think about the fact that you can breathe as much as you want in this world? And that oxygen, it just keeps coming and coming and coming?

Now, we as humans are doing our very best to thwart our ability to have abundance in nature by trying to pollute and destroy. But even within that, nature is always the victor. Nature always is going to be victorious over us in that regard. So rather than fighting nature, what we have to do is embrace it as our greatest teacher and understand that abundance is not only our right, but it's our function, just like every other part of nature. When you have abundance, it means that you're functioning in a healthy manner. Scarcity is not natural.

And anybody that tries to sell you on the idea that if we can have poverty now, we can have abundance in the next life—how is that going to work for you if thought is creative? Don't you take your mind with you? Anybody that's had a near-death experience will tell you the only thing that's different is you're freed from the weight of your body, but you still take that mind with you. You still take those thoughts with you. So the idea that somehow if you have it bad in this life, you'll have it great in the next life, doesn't hold water when you're coming from a metaphysical point of view, because thought is creative no matter whether you have a body or not.

So let's take care of it now. Let's not think like that. That's very lazy thinking. It's procrastinating into the next world. "Right now, I don't need to have abundance now. I'm going to have it in the next world." That's like saying, "I'm not going to pay my taxes now. I'll pay them some other year." It doesn't work that way. We have to think about our responsibility to ourselves. And our responsibility to ourselves is to find the abundance now. And where do you find abundance? In your mind. And how do you find abundance in your mind? By getting beneath the chatter of your ego mind and finding peace. You've got to find peace.

So if you can still your mind and focus on those qualities of the infinite for just a little bit every day, you will rise above that scarcity. You will rise above the fear. You will rise above the doubt of whatever your problem is that you want to do a spell about or a prayer about. And through doing that, you reach a sense of conviction, a sense of certainty, a sense of peace about whatever the situation is, and then through faith, through imagination, through will, and through secrecy, things manifest for you. So if they're going to manifest by using that witch's pyramid like we teach, let's manifest abundantly. Let's not manifest within that old thought form of scarcity anymore. Let's manifest like nature does, abundantly.

It's good to have an object of your magic. Let's say you had a spell for a bill that you didn't know how to get paid. Tell yourself, "I'm going to look at this the way nature looks at something. If nature were solving this problem, of course the bill would get paid and then so much more abundance would come out on top of it that's seemingly unnecessary, just like those flowers, just like that ocean, just like the leaves, just like whatever other abundant thing that you can think of in nature." So yes, you can have that problem solved. Yes, you can have that goal met. But let's not limit ourselves. Let's go underneath the surface tension of our lives and not manifest from scarcity anymore. Let's entertain the idea that nature knows already how to give us the solution to any problem and then some.

You don't want just enough to get along, to get by. You want abundance, no matter what your goal is. You want abundance. You want prosperity on every level. If you're not having abundance, that's not the infinite's will for you. The infinite's not punishing you. The infinite's not testing you. The infinite doesn't will that for you. Let's stop blaming the infinite for things and instead realize that there's a thought form that I'm projecting, and I'm willing to let that go. I'm willing to have the abundance that is natural for me. You're not taking things from other people when you're abundant. The only time you take things from other people is when you're coming from scarcity.

So our abundance is our birthright. But it's not because we're special. It's not because we've done the right things. It's not because we're living saintly lives. It's because that's how we were created. We were created to be abundance machines, just like everything else in nature. So let's do it. Let's do it. Let's have that abundance, regardless of what's going on in the world, regardless of what's going on anywhere in three-dimensional reality. We are children of the infinite. We are children of nature. And nature extends beyond three-dimensional reality. It extends beyond everything that we can perceive with our sense organs. We're not even scratching the surface of what is possible for us.

To come into spellcasting or to come into prayer with this idea of, "Oh, I just want enough to get by," we're reinforcing all of that nonsense. We're reinforcing that same garbage. So we have to stand up to that within ourselves. We have to be warriors, if you will, against scarcity, against that mindset that we don't deserve things, that we're not good enough. And when we rise up against that thought form that we're not good enough and all that stuff, not only do we start getting more abundance in our lives, but we stop acting like such brats and babies and mean people because there's no more motivation to do that. We stop, quote, being sinners because we recognize that's not how we were created. We weren't created sinful. We weren't created less than. We weren't created bad. That's all learned behavior and we're going to unlearn it.

But let our motivation be that we want to be abundant. Why? That's our natural state—abundance.

Thank you so much for spending some time with me today. I so appreciate you. Until next time, blessed be.
