Archangel Cassiel is a celestial figure revered for his wisdom, patience, and role as a guide through life's challenges. He's one of the eight teaching angels. Cassiel is known as the angel of Saturn and the ruler of Capricorn.
Cassiel embodies the principles of karmic justice, endurance, and spiritual growth. His influence is subtle and profound and he offers solace, balance, and guidance to all who seek his aid. Today I want to explore Cassiel's attributes, symbols, and correspondences as well as his role in mythology, astrology, kabbalah, magic, and spiritual practices.
By understanding Cassiel's nature, we can learn how to connect with him and harness his guidance in our lives. Cassiel's name means the speed of God. Some say it means God is my wrath.
Cassiel is a figure of quiet power and observation. Unlike other angels who may actively intervene, Cassiel is known for his detached and watchful nature. He allows events to unfold according to the divine will.
Often he is known as the angel of solitude and tears, and this is because of his association with reflection, endurance, and acceptance of life's challenges. Cassiel is the angel of Saturn, the planet of discipline, structure, and cause and effect. He is also the ruler of Capricorn, the zodiacal sign of ambition, work, career, and perseverance.
Cassiel's celestial title is the Father of Time, and this reflects his connection to the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. Cassiel's rulership of Saturn ties him to the planet's themes of discipline, structure, and karmic justice. Saturn is often referred to as the Great Teacher or the Great Reaper, representing the cycles of life, death, and rebirth.
Saturn's energy is slow-moving, requiring patience and endurance, but it ultimately rewards those who persevere. The planetary glyph of Saturn represents a scythe, and this is a symbol of the harvest of what has been sown. This symbol aligns with the biblical principle, Whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap.
Cassiel is often called the Angel of Fate or the Reaper, but not in a grim sense. Cassiel is a figure who ensures justice and balance in the cycles of life. Saturday is Saturn's day, and it's the best time to connect with the archangel Cassiel.
Saturn's association with time and maturity also makes Cassiel a guide for those navigating the challenges of aging, karmic lessons, and long-term endeavors. Cassiel's influence is most strongly felt in the zodiacal sign of Capricorn, which he rules. Capricorn is symbolized by the goat, a creature known for its ability to climb steep and rocky terrain with determination and focus.
This reflects the qualities Cassiel imparts to those under his guidance. Capricorn traits include ambition, discipline, responsibility, and the ability to overcome obstacles. The glyph for Capricorn resembles a V with a hook, representing a goat's beard and its tenacity.
Capricorns are often driven by the need for success, stability, and authority, qualities that align with Cassiel's teachings of perseverance and karmic justice. In the mystical tradition of the Kabbalah, Saturn is associated with the sephirah Binah on the tree of life. Binah, meaning understanding, is the third sephirah and represents the divine feminine aspect of creation, structure, and discipline.
It is the realm of form and limitation, where the infinite potential of energy begins to take shape. Binah is the womb of creation, where the chaotic energy of hokmah, wisdom, is given structure and form. It is the source of understanding, discipline, and the boundaries necessary for manifestation.
Saturn's energy aligns with Binah's themes of limitation, structure, and the passage of time. Both Saturn and Binah teach the importance of boundaries, patience, and the lessons that come through hardship and discipline. As the angel of Saturn, Cassiel embodies the qualities of Binah, guiding us to understanding the deeper meaning of life's challenges and to find wisdom through endurance and reflection.
Binah is also associated with the divine feminine archetype often linked to the Great Mother or the Crone, who imparts wisdom through experience and the cycles of life and death. Cassiel's guidance is particularly valuable in areas that require patience, endurance, and long-term resolution. His influence spans several key domains.
Cassiel is deeply connected to the concept of cause and effect, sometimes called karma, the idea that our actions have consequences that unfold over time. Cassiel helps us to navigate life's trials and teaches us to accept and learn from our challenges. Cassiel teaches us to endure hardships with grace, knowing that they are part of spiritual growth.
While his work is slow, it is steady and sure, bringing lasting stability and rewards. The axiom, the mill of the gods grinds slowly but surely, relates to Cassiel. Cassiel is a guardian of the elderly and those nearing the end of life.
He provides comfort and guidance in matters related to aging, legacies, and the settlements of wills. Cassiel aids those in old age, offering stability and relief from the challenges of aging. He oversees the fair distribution of legacies and the resolutions of affairs of the deceased.
Cassiel is also a protector of homes and properties, offering guidance in real estate matters, repairs, and farming. He helps bring stability to your living situation, whether through property ownership or repairs. Cassiel's influence extends to matters of agriculture and land management.
While Cassiel doesn't necessarily cure ailments, he provides relief and support in enduring long-term health challenges, particularly those related to aging. He helps with the ailments of old age, such as rheumatism, arthritis, and dementia. He also rules patients during the healing process.
Cassiel communicates through subtle signs and symbols. Recognizing these signs can affirm his presence and guidance. Some symbols include coal, lead, branches of evergreen trees, dried fruits, and flowers such as everlasting flowers.
Animals and birds include tortoises, parrots, crows, and worms. Colors associated with Cassiel include black, dark green, and dark brown. Cassiel's metals and jewels include lead, jet, coal, garnet, and onyx.
Signs of Cassiel's presence include a fall of soot down a chimney, indicating quick help, which is unusual with Cassiel, since Cassiel's help usually requires a length of time. Tingling sensations in the left leg or relief suddenly from aches. Dark blue or green mists appearing unexpectedly.
Encounters with slow-moving creatures or unexpected gifts of anything associated with Cassiel, such as coal, evergreen branches, or everlasting flowers. Cassiel's influence extends beyond astrology and into mythology. In ancient Egypt, he was associated with Osiris, the god of the underworld, and the lord of death.
Osiris, like Cassiel, was seen as a figure of release and renewal, guiding souls to rest and rejuvenation after trials of life. Cassiel is not the lord of death in a grim sense, but rather the lord of release from strife, offering rest and renewal to weary souls. As the angel of Saturn, Cassiel oversees the passage of time, the cycles of life, death, and rebirth.
You don't necessarily have to invoke Cassiel in formal ways such as what we teach in our Basic Angel Magic course. Anyone can call upon Cassiel who needs the help of him. You can use black, dark green, or brown candles, burn incense such as patchouli or cypress, and place symbols of Saturn such as lead, garnet, or onyx on your altar.
You can begin by grounding yourself and focusing on your need or intention. Recite a simple prayer or affirmation asking for Cassiel's guidance and support. Be patient and watch for signs of his presence, trusting his timing, and the slow but steady unfolding of his work.
You can also write a simple letter to Cassiel, Dear Archangel Cassiel, and write out your need or request and sign it. Cassiel teaches us the value of patience, endurance, and acceptance. He reminds us that life's challenges are not without purpose and that perseverance will ultimately be rewarded.
His influence is particularly strong for those with Saturn well-aspected in their horoscopes as he brings favors later in life. Archangel Cassiel, the angel of Saturn and Binah, also govern the divine principle called law. Divine law is ruled by Cassiel and the primary divine law is that of cause and effect.
Cassiel's influence teaches us to embrace patience, honor the cycles of life, and trust in the enduring rewards of perseverance. By connecting with Cassiel, we can find stability, wisdom, and relief from life's strife. Thank you so much for joining me today.
May the Archangel Cassiel bless you with his enduring guidance and support. Blessed Be.
